Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
This policy explains what RUN4IT ("we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. RUN4IT is a running tracker for iPhone and Android. Questions? support@run4it.app.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account: email address, display name, and (optional) a profile photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from them.
- Profile: gender (optional), height, weight, and unit preference — used to estimate calories; your home city/state; and the beverage you're "running for".
- Preferences: goal-tracking settings, notification and discoverability toggles, and your light/dark theme choice (theme is stored only on your device).
- Support messages: anything you send us by email.
Information the app records
- Runs: the GPS route (a series of coordinates), distance, pace, duration, calories, start/end time, and the drink and count you earned. Runs are saved to your account until you delete them.
- Progress: lifetime totals, current and longest streak, and the achievement badges you've earned.
Information collected automatically
- Location: precise location while a run is being recorded (including in the background if the run continues while the app isn't open). See section 3.
- Device & usage: a push-notification token, app version, device model and OS, crash diagnostics, and in-app events (e.g. "run saved") via Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics).
- Advertising identifier: for users without RUN4IT Pro, Google AdMob may access your device's advertising ID to serve and measure ads.
2. How we use your information
- Provide the core service — track runs, draw routes, calculate earned drinks, keep streaks and badges, and sync your data across sessions.
- Let you find friends ("crew") and message them, if you turn on discoverability.
- Send you push notifications you've opted into (earned-a-round alerts, streak reminders, new badges).
- Process RUN4IT Pro subscriptions and validate promo codes.
- Show and measure ads to users without RUN4IT Pro.
- Understand crashes and how features are used, so we can fix and improve the app.
- Protect the service against abuse, spam, and fraud (e.g. email verification for new sign-ups).
For users in the EEA/UK, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (running the app you asked for), legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement), consent (location, push notifications, contacts access, personalised ads — each requested through your OS), and legal obligation where applicable.
3. Location
- RUN4IT asks for location permission the first time you start a run, and during onboarding to suggest your home city.
- Precise location is collected only while you are actively recording a run. If a run is still running when you leave the app, background location is used so the route and distance stay accurate; it stops when you end the run.
- Route coordinates are stored with that run in your account. They are shown to you, and — only if you mark a route as public — to other signed-in users in "Discover routes".
- We do not use your location for advertising and do not sell location data.
- You can revoke location permission at any time in your device Settings. Run tracking won't work without it.
4. Advertising
RUN4IT shows banner and interstitial ads through Google AdMob to users who do not have RUN4IT Pro. AdMob may use your advertising identifier and limited device/usage signals to serve, cap, and measure ads. You can limit this by turning off "Personalised ads" / resetting your advertising ID in your device Settings, or by subscribing to RUN4IT Pro, which removes all ads. See Google's advertising policies.
5. Analytics & crash reporting
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to see which features are used and to diagnose crashes. This includes app events, a Firebase installation identifier, device model/OS, and crash stack traces. Where required, this is enabled based on your consent.
6. Service providers and third parties
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase / Google Cloud | Authentication, database, file storage, push notifications, hosting of our server functions, analytics, crash reporting |
| Google Maps Platform | Rendering maps and your run routes |
| Google AdMob | Ads for non-Pro users |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | Processing RUN4IT Pro subscriptions and validating receipts |
| Untappd, Vivino, TheCocktailDB | Read-only beverage lookup (beer, wine, cocktail data and images). We send a search term; we do not send them your identity. |
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security commitments. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the AdMob mechanism described above.
7. What other people can see
- Public profile: if discoverability is on, other signed-in users can find you by name and see your public profile and start a chat. New accounts are not discoverable until the email is verified. You can turn this off in Profile → "Public profile".
- Chat: messages you send are visible to the people in that conversation.
- Public routes: a run you explicitly mark as a public route can be viewed by other signed-in users.
8. Data retention
We keep your account and run data for as long as your account exists. Crash and analytics data are retained on Firebase's default schedules. If you delete your account, we delete your profile and runs from our active systems; backups and provider logs age out on their own cycles.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access / export / correction / deletion: email support@run4it.app from your account address and we'll help. Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA), you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
- Delete your account: contact support and we will remove your profile, runs, streak, and badges.
- Permissions: location, notifications, contacts, camera/photos — all controllable in your device Settings.
- Ads: reset or limit your advertising identifier in device Settings, or subscribe to RUN4IT Pro.
- Notifications: toggle in Profile, or in device Settings.
10. Children
RUN4IT is not directed to children. It is rated 17+ on the App Store because of alcohol references. You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use it. We don't knowingly collect data from children under that age; contact us if you believe a child has provided us information.
11. Security
Data is transmitted over TLS and stored with our cloud providers using their access controls and encryption at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.
12. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers process data in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page and the "Last updated" date when this policy changes. Material changes will also be noted in the app or by email.
